White House Server Meltdown Causes Communication Outage
Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009White House server outage that shut down all incoming and outgoing e-mail for more than eight hours. The tech savy Obama administration could not have been too happy about this technology crash that disrupted email communications.
This email disruption forced the White House staff to communicate the old fashioned way using phone calls and paper to communicate. The press secretary, Robert Gibbs, began his daily briefing at 1:45 p.m. by apologizing for the outage.
The cause at that time was unknown with two e-mail servers reportedly rebooted but two others remained mysteriously down, with no immediate explanation. It has been widely reported that White House staff members already were frustrated by the somewhat archaic technology they discovered when they took over their offices. Perhaps it is time to move into the 21st century?
